Post production

Post-production is where everything comes together, shaping raw footage into a refined and cohesive film. Through editing, sound design, and visual enhancements, we craft a final product that aligns with the vision established during production.

Timeline

Most productions require around 3–5 weeks for post-production, depending on the scope. This process can include editing interviews and scenes, refining dialogue, recording voiceovers, and layering sound design and music. Additional steps such as colour grading, graphics, title sequences, and visual effects (VFX) ensure the final film is polished. The final stages involve quality control, snippet cut-downs, and preparing the film for delivery.

First cut

The first cut is typically ready 2–3 weeks after filming. While this may feel like a long wait, it’s because our first cut is already highly refined. By the time you see it, we’ve often gone through multiple internal iterations to get the story right—sometimes up to 10–15 versions. Colour grading, sound design, music selection, and graphics are all included, so you don’t have to guess how the final product will look and feel.

This doesn’t mean everything is locked in. There’s still room for refinements!

Review & revisions

Most productions allow for two rounds of revisions, covering edits to dialogue, sound, music, colour, and structure. To keep the post-production process on track, we ask for all feedback to be consolidated in a single email within three business days.

Stakeholder review

For projects involving government bodies, facility managers, or other key stakeholders, an early review may be necessary to ensure the content meets messaging and visual requirements. Initiating this process early in the edit avoids delays later in the timeline.

Final cut & shorts

Most productions include shorter snippets alongside the full film. Once the final cut is approved, we lock the edit and create these short versions optimised for social media, websites, or other platforms.

Export & delivery

Once everything is finalised, we export the film in the appropriate formats, run a final quality check, and prepare the files for delivery.

“Prior to coming to site that day, Nikolas interviewed me on the phone, he looked at the floor plans; he understood the building. Even before I'd watched the first cut, I was confident it was going to be good. Because I knew, here’s a guy who's done his homework, he cares. I was impressed by that”

“Watching a Ravens At Odds film is like experiencing a project for the first time. And in the best way without physically being there. There’s a humanistic scale and a slowness to the story. I appreciate the thought and consideration that went into it”
