Concept development
Establishing the creative direction
With the brief in place, we refine the creative direction, shaping the structure, tone, and visual approach of the production. This stage establishes a foundation for how ideas will be expressed on screen. A typical concept development process may include:
- Developing a film treatment to outline key themes, messaging, and narrative flow
- Curating a mood board to establish the visual style, colour, and atmosphere
- Identifying specific filming techniques or stylistic elements that will shape the production
Storyline Development Workshop
For larger organisations and practices, developing a clear narrative early in the process is invaluable. This workshop helps shape initial ideas into a structured direction, ensuring clarity in messaging, audience alignment, and creative approach.
We’ll explore key themes, objectives, and how the story will unfold on screen. We work through audience engagement strategies, messaging tone, and the most effective way to communicate the project’s vision.
This service is particularly beneficial for projects requiring multi-stakeholder input or when you need guidance in shaping your messaging into a compelling video.
Interviews, voiceover & scripting
Not every production requires interviews, voiceover, or a full script, but where needed, these elements help guide storytelling. Depending on the project, this stage may involve:
- Planning interview questions and structuring responses
- Crafting a script or key talking points if narration is involved
- Ensuring any spoken content aligns with the production’s style, purpose and message
Storyboard & scene development
For productions requiring detailed shot planning, we may develop a storyboard or scene list to map out key visuals. This helps refine how the production will be filmed and edited. A typical approach may include:
- Identifying essential scenes and how they will be framed
- Outlining any complex sequences that require planning
- Creating a shot structure to guide the filming process
Not every production needs a storyboard or scene breakdown, but for those that do, it ensures a smooth and intentional filming process.
