Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club

by Arkhefield

A coastal community landmark

Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club is more than a clubhouse—it’s a central part of the Gold Coast’s coastal identity. Designed by Arkhefield, the building reflects the club’s commitment to surf lifesaving and community, balancing durability with openness to the beachfront environment. Expansive terraces, natural materials, and flexible spaces allow the club to function as both a social hub and a vital operations centre, ensuring it remains a welcoming and enduring part of the coastline.

As one of eight films produced for Gold Coast Open House 2022, our role was to explore Kurrawa’s architectural and cultural significance through a considered and engaging narrative. The Open House program showcases the Gold Coast’s most compelling architecture, and each film required a distinct perspective. Alongside creative direction for the series, we worked to uncover unique storylines, managed multiple stakeholders and permissions, and captured the rhythm of life within the club. The final film reflects not just the building, but its place within the broader story of the Gold Coast.

"Gold Coast Open House's partnership with Ravens At Odds benefits all our stakeholders, from the participating architects and owners who generously open their homes and buildings, to the festival goers and our on-line visitors. The bespoke films Ravens produces make a lasting impression and are helping to raise our social media profile significantly"
